Mental Exercises to Keep You Young

Your brain is one of the most important tools you’ll ever use. Nowadays, it seems like we allow technology to do so much thinking for us. Automation is convenient, but it’s important to exercise your brain regularly to help keep your memory fresh, your attention focused, and your reasoning sharp. Try a couple of these challenges throughout the next month to exercise your brain and keep your mind young.

  1. Get Lost

Go somewhere you don’t typically spend much time and use your navigation skills to get around. This could be a museum, a part of town you’re unfamiliar with, or a mall with many shops. Explore and discover.

  1. Play

Memory games and word puzzles are not only fun, they are a great way to sharpen your mind. Games where you have to rearrange letters to make words, or memorize a passage are awesome.

  1. Learn a Language

So many neurological pathways are created when we try to learn a new language. Even if it’s just a few words a day, you can improve your mental capacity by studying a new language, or four.

  1. Ground Yourself

For just a couple minutes a day, take a moment to just notice where you are at and what surrounds you. This is a powerful exercise to ground and connect you with the experiences you’re having right now. Years from now, you don’t want to look back and wonder why you never enjoyed or experienced the small moments.

  1. Write

Try writing with your non-dominant hand. You’ll be surprised by how difficult this may seem at first and how much you have to concentrate to form words in a completely new way. You can also switch hands when you’re eating or brushing your teeth for a similar mental stretch.

  1. Map It Out

Have you ever thought about all the necessary details needed to draw a successful map? Sit down and draw a map of your neighborhood or town by memory. Did you miss anything? Your memory will thank you for trying this exercise, even if you don’t need the map to get around.

  1. Listen Up

Every now and then, listen to a song from a genre of music you don’t typically choose. Pick out individual instruments and follow their melodies. Even if you aren’t musically inclined, this is a great way to strengthen focus and concentration.

  1. Medidate

There are many health benefits to meditation, but studies have been done exploring the benefit of meditation on mental function. An easy meditation can be as simple as focusing on your breath while you picture the details of a specific landscape.

Try one or two of these exercises and let us know what you think. Over time, as you make a point to expand your mind and exercise your brain, you can feel younger and more mentally agile. Taking FrequenSea PRO every day is another way you can improve your mental clarity and focus. The nutrition from Marine Phytoplankton helps keep the cell walls flexible and permeable so both nutrients and information can be passed throughout the body more effectively.
