Powerful Posture = Powerful Attitude


If you’re having a rough day and your mood just isn’t very positive, pay attention to how you’re sitting or standing. According to research, your posture actually has a huge connection to your mood, and by sitting up just a little bit taller, you can actually increase feelings of alertness and self esteem. 


Try this little experiment:


  1. Right now, or the next time you feel anxious, irritable or discouraged, pay attention to how you’re sitting. Are your shoulders slumped forward? Is your head down? Are you slouched to one side?

  2. Make the mental connection between how you feel emotionally, and how your body is positioned. 

  3. Now, change your position. Roll your shoulders back. Straighten your spine and lift your head up. You could even go so far as to strike a standing power-pose with your hands on your hips and your legs apart. Take a confident, strong stance. 

  4. Notice how you feel. Do you feel empowered? Do you feel confident? Do you feel less fearful?

  5. If, after changing your posture, you have a hard time maintaining it, try adding a PowerStrip to the back of your neck, between your shoulders, or your lower back. The gentle adhesive can be a reminder to straighten your body again.
