Travel Back in Time to the Ancient Olympics

It’s 684 BC and it’s the first year the Olympics are longer than a one-day event. You’re excited to watch all the sports—javelin, discus, running, long jump, equestrian events, boxing and shot put—but the pankration is your favorite. You cram together in the stadium with thousands of other men. Women aren’t allowed to participate or spectate. Like all the athletes, the pankration fighters are naked. Tall, burly men begin dancing around one another, looking for a chance to grab each other.

“It’s the fighting style Theseus used to defeat the Minotaur,” you hear an elderly gentleman nearby explain to a young boy. You’re familiar with the legend and were probably a similarly tender age when you heard it.
“The fighter combines wrestling and boxing to defeat his opponent. The only rules are not biting and no gouging,” The old man continues.
“Will...will they get hurt?” the innocent lad asks naively.
“Oh, most certainly.” The sage answers gravely, with a hint of anticipation...

History suggests the ancient Greeks had a morbid curiosity and interest in violence but modern Olympics are nothing like the bloody events they were in ancient times. Coaches, trainers and officials care for their athletes and do everything they can to prevent injury, while still pushing the limits as close to victory as possible. Athletes are seen using all sorts of devices to warm, cool, and protect muscles, before and after performance.

The good news is, you don’t have to be an olympian to have access to top-level products. ForeverGreen PowerStrips are designed to provide comfort and relief to tense muscles and they are a gold-medal accessory for any athlete or spectator. For more information on PowerStrips click here.
